Ø Good pointes:

1. fine space between tall buildings–good because reducing the spaces between buildings creates a shad for longer periods of the day, which can prevents heat from generating in the walls witch will help to decrease the consumption of electricity by reducing the load on the cooling system.

2. Using operable roof which is supposed to work depending on the weather. When the weather is hot like in the summer it will close up and reduce the sunlight that streams in. While in the winter it will use the natural air from the cool weather.

3. Solar powered plant farms: These plant farms are connected to solar powered machines which are used to provide the plants with energy.

----

Ø Bad pointes:

1. Cool cities are not suitable for most of people- because some people can’t afford to live there or they don’t want to change their current life style.

2. Water Shortage: This city is in fact an island which surrounded with water and that is rare.

3. To build the cool cities, it needs a big budget and a lot of planning for the projects to be successful.

▫▪[ TDIC Project ]▪▫

Tourism Development & Investment Company (TDIC) is the company that arranging all of the new construction projects in Abu Dhabi the capital of the United Arab Emirates. My friend, Ahmed Al Hammadi, and I had to do a presentation about a project of the TDIC. However, I liked some of them and disliked others. I am going to write about the best and worst project in my opinion.

I think “Qasr Al Sarab” is the best project due to some reasons such as; the location of the project in the middle of Liwa desert which is the best place to relax and have a break from daily work in a quiet environment. Another reason is the luxuries facilities in the retreat centre like the luxury health spa, conference centre, adjoining excursion and tented villages, a children’s playground and an observatory from where guests can monitor the awe-inspiring Liwa night skies which. Also, the design of it is really a good reason to visit it. It is being built in a shape of old Arabic castle which is worth to see.

On the other hand, I think “Abu Dhabi Creek Business Resort” is the worst project of TDIC and that’s for some reasons. One is the facilities which are the same in all other projects; guest rooms, conference and meeting facilities, a garden and a pool. There is nothing new you can enjoy there. It is the same for going to any other resort. Another reason is the design of the villas in the project which is really awful and looks like a cube and that’s what I call “not interesting”.

In conclusion, TDIC is a big company with many nice and new projects. I think soon we are going to see cool buildings made by them.

~• My Carbon Footprint •~

The definition of the carbon footprint is the total amount of greenhouse gases produced to directly and indirectly support human activities, usually expressed in equivalent tons of carbon dioxide (CO2). After doing a quiz on the web site http://footprint.wwf.org.uk/ to calculate my carbon footprint the result was 4.87 planets. That means I need about 4.87 worlds to cover my carbon footprint. And that is 24.89 tonnes per annum. This is really a bad result because it affects the global warming.

Many reasons led to this high level of my carbon footprint. I scored poorly in the area of food. That is because I usually eat meat and dairy produce which effect in a strange way the global warming. Also, I had a poor score in stuff area and that’s because I often use over-packaged products which makes me use it a lot.
Another reason is that I keep a lot of electrical stuff plagued-in almost all the day such as; AC, Laptop and mobile charger. Finally, I also use my car always even for the short trips that might be less than 1 km and I never use group transportation.

However, there are number of solutions that I can do to reduce my carbon footprint. First of all I can start cutting down on meat and dairy produce and replace it with organic food. Also, I might consider avoiding over-packaged products and substitute it with other items which don’t have the same effect on the world. Another solution is that I have to get used on turning down the heating in rooms and switch-off the electric machines which I am not using. Last but not less, I am advised to use group transportation or try to walk instead of using the car all the time.

In summary, every one of us can make a change on the global warming. People should really consider reducing the amount of carbon emissions. It is difficult but it is not impossible.

۩ ღ An Inconvenient Truth Evaluation ღ ۩

After having some discussions about Al Gore documentary movie, An Inconvenient Truth, My evaluation to this movie is negative.
.
.
I think Mr. Al Gore overstated the whole issue and his global warming movement was more anti-scientific than scientific. How did he suddenly become an expert in global warming? Although many scientists who disagree with his opinions they say that the global temperature is rising because it needs to. Scientists say that every thousand years this happens naturally. I also have doubt about his sources and why the scientists gave him the information in private, he keeps saying that the graphs charts are shown for the first time through the movie. Also, I have no idea why he include his private family life in this movie, for example his son’s emergency or sister death. I really disagree with his point that he says it’s the world’s problem. According to him; U.S is the biggest source of pollution and so it should be the U.S who take the first move before anybody else. I think this is all a popularity contest more than anything else might happen from him to cover his fail in the election. I’m not saying what he’s saying is not true but well over exaggerated.

.
In conclusion if I had to rate this movie, I would give him 10 / 10 for his public speaking skills but as for the movie I’d rather not rate it.

~ An Inconvenient Truth Summary ~

Former president candidate Al Gore aware us from a problem might be major in the future through his documentary movie about global warming "An Inconvenient Truth".

The movie talks about the environment and the problems which we create facing it. Although the ignoring from most of the world Al Gore highlights all the important fact about our environmental state and that is been known since the 1950’s from the consequence of the release of Co2 into the atmosphere. In that way Al Gore tries to show the whole picture of how is the most of the world vegetation is in the north and it is at risk of being flooded and how glaciers around the world are melting. He also showed that 40% of the world population gets their drinking water from those glaciers and how the increase of temperature is leading to a serious problem for them. Also, Al Gore demonstrates how the poles are at risk of having the same problem of melting that happened all over the world even if the poles are the coldest area in the world.

In conclusion, these information are not only collected by researchers but he shows how he has travelled by himself to these locations and saw what has been happened there and how he used his political power to help scientists and researchers obtain more information. During the movie he doesn’t talk only about the problems but also shows solutions which people can do in their daily life which helps the environment.
